Welcome
Welcome and thank you for visiting QuidGrid.com. Team QuidGrid.com is a team of two lads from South Wales who embarked on "an adventure of a lifetime" by taking part in the Mongol Rally 2006. Basically, we drove 10,000 miles, stretching a quarter of the Earth's surface, in a clapped out old banger. On Saturday 22nd of July 2006 we set off from from London's Hyde Park and arrived at our destination, Ulaan Baatar, the capital of Mongolia, 5 weeks later. We completed this amazing adventure in our trusty old 1.0 litre white 1989 Vauxhall Nova and passed through 20 different countries, crossing deserts, mountain ranges and war zones on bad roads, terrible roads and non-existent roads! The Rally as a whole raised in excess of £200,000 for charity which would have not been possible without help from sponsors.

To get an idea of what this adventure was all about please see our video and image gallery.

We set up this site to offer individuals and companies a great opportunity to have their graphics printed on our rally car. Each panel of our car was divided up into a huge grid of a few hundred squares which we sold off to raise sponsorship money. Each of the 1.5 square inches were bought for just one quid each either through us approaching individuals and companies or through our online square buying facility. The car ended up beeing a massive collage of personal messages and doodles, local companies (both large and small), and large corporate sponsors - it was fantastic!

We'd like to give a big thank you to all our sponsors (both commercial and individual) and charity donators for making Team QuidGrid.com's Mongol Rally happen. Without the amazing support we received the rally couldn't have gone ahead. Please see the sponsors section for the full list. We raised a staggering £3496 in sponsorship money and we received a massive £168 in charity-only donations.

Through sponsorship and charity donations Team QuidGrid.com have managed to raise a massive 1,000 for charity - a quarter of which will be donated to our own local charity, Ty Hafan Children's Hospice, and the rest will be divided between the other five Official Mongol Rally charities, which help people in developing countries all over the world. Please see the charities section for further details. And again, a big thank you to all those that donated to the cause.

Through the very successful idea of sponsorship of our rally car via our unique method of selling advertisng/message space by the 1.5 square inch we managed to raise enough to pay for all the vinyl and printing, sticker lacquering, spare parts and accessories, our visas, travel insurance, car insurance, green card insurance, all the petrol, and ferries for the trip. All other costs such as food, drink and flights home came from our own personal funds. Again, a big thank you to all our sponsors for making all this possible. A special thank you goes out to Clarity Copiers for their huge 400 sponsor, Weir Services for their huge 300 sponsor and Peter Alan, Caerffili Lions and Tile World for their huge 200 sponsors. Also, a huge thank you to CAM Motor Spares of Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly for supplying us with most of our spares and accessories either free of charge or at cost price. Also, we'd like to thank Matthew from Trecenydd who donated four 14" spare wheels to us, and Tony on Bedwas Road Caerphilly for donating four 14" alloy wheels to us. And also a big thank you to Lloyd's grandfather, Ken, and Andrew's dad, Tony, for all their help with the car.

Please see the rally section for further details and stories on how the trip went.
